Fuenmayor is a village located 11 km from Logroño, La Rioja, which currently has a population of 3200 inhabitants. Located in the valley of the Ebro, Fuenmayor is a village of palaces and mansions fruit of their past and present, based on grape production and wine wealth, because they are located up to 25 wineries belonging to the DOCa Rioja.
Among our history is the saga of "the Marchos" in the War of Independence against the French: The people of Fuenmayor made bonfires in the doors and balconies to avoid being looted by French troops in the War of Independence into believing that the people had been assaulted. The word "left" may allude to the fact that the French would leave without plundering the people. Currently "The Feast of Marchos" night is celebrated on December 7, the eve of the Immaculate Conception.
